Mud events have become very scarce in Colorado. I drove down to a small town south of me last month to observe a mud run put on by the town recreation department. It was a joke, with a few holes of dirty water and a hillside slide that was not slippery.

An annual mud bog east of me is a similar bust because they put so little water in the trench that by the time the third truck goes through there is no mud left, just a dry depression in the ground.

I long for the good old days of Denver Mudd Volleyball with 64 courts of nice deep clay mud and 3,000+ participants and spectators. Lots of beer consumed which led to much fun in the pits as they were retired from play. I enjoyed night time visits to the pits for 5 weeks afterwards. Sigh.
